writing

Feel like writing a lot, but don't know what to write about. Did write a long blog post the other day, but it didn't quite do it for me. What should I write about?

Cleaning

Jess cleaned up the last of our moving boxes this weekend, and I just cleaned up the floor of the dining room from the crap left over from that. It's the first time I've seen that much floor in there since we moved in, basically: We keptt the boxes stashed away for the first DSS visit, but after that, they moved out while we were unpacking, and I'm pretty sure they (or boxes like them) have existed in that spot ever since.

I really want to get an aquarium set up for Christmas this year. Maybe I'll do it a couple weeks early as an early Christmas present to myself. I have all the stuff, but our tank got snagged while we were moving in, unfortunately, and I haven't gotten a new one yet.

Gaming

I'm really thinking I want an XBox 360. Games like "Gears of War" are just incredible looking, and have gotten lots of rave reviews. Is it worth it? Should I get one? Maybe for Christmas or something. We've got the PS2 and the Gamecube, but I just feel like the newer stuff is a big step up, and there are some things that I might actually consider it worth it for...

I guess I need to look more into what I actually want. I haven't heard anything positive about the PS3, and I'm not mobile enough to want to get something like a PSP, which I would seldom play. I suppose it might be fun to have a Wii, if for no other reason than with kids, having something that's more stand up and physical for playing would be interesting.

I know I have some gamers on my friends list: what do you think? Should I gat a 360? Should I get a Wii? Should I get neither? Should I just buy some new games for the PS2 or gamecube? I guess it probably depends what type of games I want to play: it seems like the 360 doesn't really offer much interesting stuff over the Xbox except in the form of First Person Shooters. (Can the 360 play Xbox games?)

Maybe this isn't worth it -- I don't know if I'm a serious enough gamer to make any of it worthwhile. Maybe I should just figure out how to get Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 installed and running on some hardware I own: that would certainly be an interesting one to have around, and would probably be much more of a timesink than anything else I can think of.

Wii love it

After doing some talking to my friends who bought a Wii this weekend, I'm realizing that buying a 360 or a PS3 is probably going to be completely silly for what I typically play.

Currently, we're playing: Zelda (Occarina of Time), Animal Crossing, and Katamari. If my interest is in those games, for the most part, the 360 doesn't do anything like what I enjoy most. (Viva Pinata being an exception.) The pretty may be nice, but gameplay and getting something that the kids can do as well is important too: The 360 probably does not really fit that bill. It's good at being pretty, and not at being innovative.

I'm not buying anything today, in any case, but I think that maybe a Wii for Christmas could be the right way to go. I'll have to think about it more, but it does seem kind of fun.
